birthday

Thank you!

Thanks to all who made it to the Birhtiversary Party! We were so thrilled to see so many of you there: old friends, new friends, and family. We had a fantastic time, and hope you all enjoyed yourselves, too.

Pictures, and a proper wrap-up forthcoming.

Everything is miscellaneous

(No, I haven’t read that book, yet. It’s on my “to read” list, though.) Here’s a list of what’s up:

  • Four weeks until the end of the semester. Word. Things are a bit crazy. By things, I mean, of course, yours truly. I’ve got myself set up to finish just fine, though. I’ve been having a bit of trouble with migraines of late, however. (I was forced to come home early on Tuesday, spent the whole day yesterday in a state of migraine hangover, and today I couldn’t do anything until about 1 pm, when I should have been at class.) They’re really throwing me off my pace. It’s maddening, really.
  • Please help me with the following: I have created a few sample banner/header/graphic thingies for our class digital Library. The woman whose scrapbook we’re digitizing was Olive Ruby Henty, and the images used in the banners are from her scrapbook. If any of you have any helpful comments regarding its overall design or whatever, please feel free to comment here. I’d really appreciate any feedback from outside the class. (I have, of course, solicited comments from my classmates, but it’s good to have outside perspective, too.) Here’s the link to the sample page: Olive Ruby Henty digital library.
  • The Revs take on the Huston Dynamo this weekend for the MLS Cup title. Woo! The game’s on Sunday, so I’ll be blah-blah-blahgging it, of course.
  • The spinning wheel looks great in her new home. (I haven’t come up with a name for her yet, but she’s definitely a she.) I’ve been spinning some lovely green/yellow/blue yarn from roving I picked up at the Apple Peach Festival this September. I think I’m getting the hang of it, and my yarn is way more consistent than I would have expected for my first time at the wheel. Photos forthcoming. Eventually.
  • Birthiversary party is coming up this Saturday. That should be wicked fun. Bookmark this link for more information and updates as they arise. I still don’t have a dress. I’ll pop over to the (shudder) mall on Friday night and Saturday morning to see what I can find. I’m not really stressed about it. I can always throw something together if I can’t find anything at the mall. “Fancy Schmancy” is a state of mind, yes? I’ll figure something out.

busy week

Jesse turned 30 on Saturday! Happy Birthday, old man! We went out on his dad’s boat for one and a half days. Pictures and details forthcoming.

This week was kind of meh. And ick. Stressful class stuff. Details not forthcoming. It’s over, thank goodness. Moving on.

Tonight I’m catching up on some reading for class. While watching the game (go Sox!) and drinking a bottle of wine with JeT. We have to record our thoughts on the readings in a journal that our instructor is going to read this weekend. I’m not so much behind on the reading, but the journals… um, let’s say I’ve got some catching up to do. I can never think of anything interesting to say in the journals, so hopefully the wine will help get the ideas flowing.

Right. Back to work. (We’re at the bottom of the 4th right now. I just saw Kermit the Frog in a Red Sox jersey on TV. I don’t think it was the wine. Awesome.

ETA: WOOO! 10 to 3, Sox win!!

Notice!

Please mark your calendars:

17 November 2007, 7 – 11 pm

Joelle and Jesse’s 65th Birthaversary Fancy Schmancy Dancy Party!

Jesse and I are both turning 30, we’re celebrating our 5th anniversary, and we want to have a fancy schmancy party (with dancing, of course) to celebrate. We’ve rented a hall (the same one where we got married) and will have music and food and entertainment.

Speaking of entertainment: if anyone is interested in performing, please let us know in advance so we can make sure to plan for it. You don’t have to tell us what you’re doing if you want it to be a surprise, but let us know if you need any equipment or whatever.

We’ll send out actual invitations, and have a website with all the details, so keep your eyes out for those. The guest list will be fairly loose, but if you know of anyone who would like to come, please let me know. I can’t think of any reasons why this wouldn’t be a child friendly event (unless your performance includes, you know, sacrificing children), but keep in mind there will be alcohol (cash bar) and drunken fools (my family).
Woo! Party!

Wrapping up

I’ve turned in all of my assignments from home. Well, all but one, that is. The internship project actually requires me to be physically in the archives to complete. Since I’m not supposed to have contact with people until Saturday, I haven’t been able to get to the archives to finish up.
Being quarantined for a few days has actually been quite nice. I mean, besides the coughing. That part rather sucks, but I’ve been resting and doing homework and what not. I been in my pajamas all week, too. I get up, change out of my pajamas, shower, then put on different pajamas. It’s great!

For my internship, all I have to do is type my notes, do a little rearranging, make a task list for Saturday, and put together the prose of the finding aid. I can totally do all that in two days. Oh, and I still have Sunday to edit and smooth out the kinks. I’ll be emailing the assignment to my professor Sunday night. Grades aren’t due until 9:00 Monday morning, so I don’t even have to take an “Incomplete” for that class. Yay!

Our school has been particularly “buggy” this semester. There’s some sort of gastro-intestinal thing going ’round, too. I think I’d rather have whooping cough. Still, who gets whooping cough? I’ve been accused of making out with the 15th Century. You know us librarians, always making out with the 15th Century.

I’ve had to cancel most of my birthday fun, but I’ll be un-contagious by my actual birthday-day (which is Tuesday), so I can still have fun then. I’ll be going to Salem for the afternoon, which should be great! Then it’s off to Maryland for a week to spend Christmas with my family. I haven’t seen most of them in ages, so that will be really nice.

I’ll have to reschedule my birthday festivities for January. I wouldn’t want to miss out on bowling and boozing completely!

General Notice, part deux

I went to see the doctor today, and am now being treated for pertussis, aka whooping cough. I had a chest x-ray and had blood drawn, but I won’t get the blood test results for a little while. Regardless of the results, I am on antibiotics and am quarantined for five days.

If any of you develop cold-like symptoms, and especially if you get a cough, please go have it checked out. What I thought was just a cold that wouldn’t go away is probably going to turn out to be pertussis.

I am also hereby canceling my birthday plans for this weekend. We’ll have to make up for it over winter break.

Just so’s you know.

two days ago…

it was my birthday.

wooooooooooooooooo!

I had a party, so I forgot to get online to go “woooooooooooooooooooooo” on the 19th, but yeah, birthdays are cool.

they sang to me at work.

they actually sang.

and announced it on the intercom thingie.

I had a party, I got some presents, but I didn’t get any cupcakes, my guests ate them… all. I snooze, I lose. But I had some of the birthday cuppie cakes I made for work, but that’s not the same thing, ’cause the ones I made for the party were way cooler: better sprinklies.

yum. and rad.

Jesse’s Birthday

So, yesterday was Jesse’s 26th Birthday. whee! We went to the mall to spend a gift certificate. JeT came home with a new, rad belt and a Jolly Roger bath mat from Hot Topic! whee! I still need that Jack Skellington sweatshirt to live, so I pointed this out to him while he was spending his birthday cashito. Hopefully my not-so-subtle hints will have sunk in and for our anniversary, next week, I’ll be the proud owner of the Jack-Skellington-Sweatshirt-that-I-need-to-live. Here’s hoping.

I made dinner last night and we watched Nightmare Before Christmas. whee!
